Okay, so I never made it to a part II for my list. I'm drawing a blank. I just don't feel very exciting. I think it's the 120 research papers. Research papers are draining. I think I'm just drained in general. It's time for the end of the year.
The most exciting thing is that The Humboldt Beacon updated their website and brought it to the current century. I admit, I enjoyed reading a website that looked like a 90 year old probably put it together, but anyway, the new one is nice. I especially enjoy the Police Reports. I miss Fortuna. Who reports chocolate spread they found on their car??? So awesome. The most current issue has at least three reports of a naked man busting into an apartment and then meandering the freeway. Again, so funny. Another highlight is the deer stuck in one of the rails on the freeway. He escaped just fine, but who can find this in a Phoenix newspaper?
Half the time I'm really reading the reports to make sure my rental doesn't suddenly show up as "vacant house vandalized."

Teacher of the Month!
So. Fun news. The student body voted me teacher of the month for February and March!!!! I got a cute little sign they made for me (with a notable misspelling, then correction, of my name) and I get a free lunch from anywhere I want. Yummy. I am excited. I'm bringing my students some candy tomorrow as a thank you.

Teaching and Other Thoughts
No doubt you have heard all the financial crisis going on with the school districts. I admit, I went back into teaching for some job security and now I'm not sure how secure that is. Luckily, I have a very approachable and open principal, so my friend Cami and I went down to talk to her on Friday to check our job status. Our principal was open with us and honest, which helps. It also helps we are the only high school in the district so we get all the incoming students. At least for now, we are okay for next year. That definitely could change, but she is hoping the numbers will correct themselves as far as teachers in the English department go (hint: people are not coming back or they are retiring).
I am a worrier by nature, so always in the back of my mind is this constant fear of whether or not I will have a job. It takes dedication on my part to let God handle it-since I am not in this alone.
In the meantime, the freshmen are annoying me, while the sophomores are slowly becoming a little more mature. We'll see how that plays out.
Missing Dad has been weighing on me more than usual. I miss talking to him, and I seem to miss him more on saturday mornings when the sun is out. Perhaps that is because he was usually home then? I don't know. I have come to the conclusion that I will always live with this ache in my heart-it will never go away while I am here on earth.

Sleeeeeeep
One thing no one warns you about when you get married is the new sleeping arrangements (ie you are now sharing a bed). Some things I knew about myself before I got married in regards to this:
1) I hog the bed. I like to sleep in the middle and halfway down the bed and I like to sprawl myself out.
2) I like a ton of covers. Five minimum.
3) I bury myself like a hamster to stay warm.
I considered myself a heavy sleeper before I got married. This was wrong. I am, in fact, a very light sleeper. The entire first year of our marriage I didn't sleep at all through the night. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I blame this on the dog. The night the dog moved out of our room, I slept like a rock.
Here's the other thing-Eric recently started snoring. Which for the most part is not a problem, because I'll tap him and he'll roll over. The problem is that lately, I'll wake up and listen to him snore, but then he'll suddenly stop and I'll hear nothing. This freaks me out and my adrenaline kicks in. I've developed the habit now of sleeping with my hand on him so I can feel him breathing. Of course, we are looking into this sleep apnea thing...
HOWEVER, Eric flails in his sleep. I don't know if there is a medical way to solve this, but I have been hit more than once in the middle of the night. Most recently in the head by his elbow. One night, his elbow into my abdomen. Another night, an elbow to the temple. I'm really not sure how to resolve this one. It's really sort of funny so far, since I have not sustained any permanent damage. I suppose the morning I wake up with a black eye, we might have to look into a king size bed.

Denise Austin Just Kicked my A**
I know I shouldn't swear, but I couldn't think of a better way to express what I'm feeling. Seriously, 12 minutes with Denise Austin and you are sweating. I got the worst side ache but kept going. Freaking amazing, Denise, freaking amazing. Anyway, in case you are interested, I own almost every Denise Austin video. I'll let you borrow one. She is a workout guru. Here's the deal-I can see where some people would be seriously annoyed by her. And sometimes the look on her face makes me laugh hysterically-it's so distortedly cheerful. You either love her or hate her. At least, that's what I read from all the reviews. I think she started in the 80's and she looks amazing. In any case, my most recent purchase is a 12 minute-a-day DVD. Because honestly, 12 minutes is all I want to do some days (don't we all?). She promises a leaner figure with only 12 minutes a day. I am her biggest fan. I don't care if you are all laughing at me for loving Denise so much, I will be awesomely buff soon.

So annoyed!
Why does my blog lack photos? It's because somehow in the past three years my camera became a piece of crap in addition to my cell phone-which died yesterday right after school. Here I am minding my own business trying to text a friend and talk with Eric and the freaking phone has to run slow then go to a nice white screen. I came home so angry (I lack all patience with technology. All patience. I become livid when the stupid piece of technology stops functioning for me). Anyway, when I got home Eric took me to Verizon, so that they could rip us off just for a new phone.
So, back to the camera, the battery doesn't work or charge or whatever. Piece of junk. So freaking annoyed right now.
I do like my new phone but I can't work it yet and have accidentally called both Garrett and my friend Cami. Oh well...
So...where did I go for two weeks? I fell into an abyss of Shakespeare, memoirs, grading, and meetings. Freaking meetings every single day since school started, which means I'm at school trying to get caught up until like 5 at night. So annoyed.
Highlights? My 4th hour is pissing me off, though there is an entertaining group of boys that likes to break out into song together when the bell rings. No joke. Last was the song "Midnight Train to Jordan." I think that's the title. What else? One parent is angry we're reading about the holocause-heaven forbid I teach them a novel that's actually a true story, and I've kicked out two students just because they've annoyed me. Also, I sent an email to all the English teachers asking a question and I misspelled "there." Lame. I used to be an amazing speller and now I suck because I read essays that lack correct spelling. So annoyed.
However, writing is therapeutic and Eric and I cooked a fabulous dinner. Yes, try it people. Stay home and cook dinner. It's freaking amazing and does not take long.
That's all for now...
