Recipes

Eric and I love to cook together. It's how we bond. Lately though my cooking skills seem to have diminshed. I keep messing up recipes. I think I'm back to normal again though since Georgia had me make dough and pie...that seemed to get me back on track.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone is interested but I wanted to post two of our favorite (lately) recipes. We're trying to be good about what we eat, and I think we eat best when we eat a lot of asian inspired meals. I love the sunomono we get at sushi places, so I looked online to get some ideas on how to make it. I altered it, as always...

Sunomono (Cucumber salad)

1 large thinly sliced cucumber (ha, I tried to use our mandolin but can't figure out how to)
1/4 c. (or more to cover) Sushi seasoning vinegar
1/4 c. thinly diced red onion
sesame seeds

So yummy!

Our other favorite thing to eat lately is Spicy Salmon/Tuna Rice Bowls. We haven't found the spicy sauce we want to use yet, but when we feel like sushi without all the work we make this.

Sushi Rice Bowls

Cooked sushi rice (we make a lot of this because we then make stir fry)
Sliced Avocado
Salmon (we like raw salmon the best)
Scallions, thinly sliced
Ginger (for Eric, I hate ginger...)
Prepared Seaweed & Sesame Seed
Soy sauce to taste
Wasabi to taste

We are constantly making and trying new recipes and some that we've done are eggrolls and asian noodles. If you haven't tried cooking and experimenting with recipes, I highly recommend it!

You need to attempt a tempura yam roll.... just don't set the kitchen on fire! :)
