The Faces of Zane

I was uploading birthday party pictures of Ketra's 1st (to come later!) and started searching through all the pics we have. I found some amusing faces Zane makes while we attempt to take his picture. (My apologies for some of the blurry ones...I don't know how to take pictures).

I also found this one...

Books!

Eric bought me a Kindle for Christmas, and I LOVE it. One significant reason is the fact that I can freely buy (within budget of course) whatever books I might want to read and not have to fill up my bookshelf. I'm also enjoying borrowing books from Amazon and finding books for $1.99. I made myself a new rule that I read before bedtime for at least 10 minutes. That's honestly all I can usually make it-10 minutes. Then I'm so tired I fall asleep. Sad. I used to read until 1 or 2am in high school then be able to still get up (I just outed myself here-it's true Mom! I cheated and stayed up late reading...maybe you already knew that). Anyway, here's the last few books I read:

1. Innocent Traitor, by Alison Weir
2. Midwyf (can't remember the author but this is how the title was spelled)
3. A Stray Drop of Blood by Roseanna White

I'm definitely on a historical England kick and will probably read through a few of the Tudor and Plantagenet novels by Weir and Gregory. Yay for reading!

Is Anyone Still Reading This?

Wow, I updated this in 2010...perhaps I should get back to this though I do wonder if anyone is still reading this? Maybe this adorable cute picture of Zane will draw you back in...

Prayer

It's come to my attention that I probably don't know God as well as I should. In fact, I think HE might be pretty far away from me, and I definitely need to change that. I've started reading The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie something-or-other (I'm too lazy to go upstairs and get the author's name) and something she said in the beginning of her book struck me. She discusses how she struggled frightfully with FEAR after her first baby was born. Fear that she would drop him, forget to feed him, lose him etc.

This is me. I have struggled with fear in this same manner-only I kind of wonder if my fears are a little more psychotic than hers. I hope not. Fear that I'll fall down the stairs with Zane, lock him in the hot car on accident, fear that he'll be taken from me, fear that I'll lose Eric and him...anyway. You get the idea. It's a struggle. Her encouragement is to pray. Obviously these fears won't go away and I might have to stop and pray about it many, many times, but eventually I hope I will fully entrust God with Zane's life.

We've reached the three year mark since Dad passed away, and I think this was a turning point in my relationship with God. Some good, some bad, but mostly I think I've been God-shy. If that makes sense? Foolishly, I am afraid that if I really truly fully entrust God with everything then something "bad" will happen. I'm living in fear.

Anyway, I need to snap out of this and just constantly begin to pray.

For fun, here's a picture I took randomly on the couch. Zane's face is hilarious! Ignore my double chin though-I'm working losing that hahahaaaaa....

Boys are Gross ;-)

I can't believe I'm going to post about POO. I feel like a real parent now.

Anyway, the reality is boys are gross even as young as 2 weeks old. Why? My son likes to sleep in his dirty diaper. He never cries for his diaper to be changed. We just assume it needs to be at each feeding and of course it does. You can tell when he's working on something awesome for it because he gets fussy, and then he falls asleep and prefers just to sit in his disgusting mess. I know a girl would not do this!

I still wouldn't trade him for anything. Look at his precious face! You would never know his diaper is so gross...
